I couldn't get the pictures to upload from that last blog so I'm trying again.

A great visit

My mom came to visit this last week. We had a great time, despite some illness. We went to La Jolla and saw seal beach, which used to be a children's beach until the seals took it over. While we were there it was low tide so we had fun exploring the tide pools, and finding shells. On Tuesday my mom stayed with Emily and Kaleb while Becky and I went to the temple with the youth. We ended up with 25 youth there! Wednesday and Thursday found us a bit under the weather, but we made it to New Beginnings. Each girl brought a display of things she has worked on for personal progress, or things that show who she is. Becky's display turned out great with her trombone, plus shirt, pictures, books and scriptures. She's very well rounded! Friday we went to Whelan Lake, the bird sanctuary. We made it around the lake and saw lots of birds. It had been warm most of the week, so Greg, the bird guy, warned us about rattle snakes. Luckily we didn't see any!

Saturday was a good birthday, although it didn't start out the best. First thing in the morning, I took my mom to the airport. When I for back we went to Kaleb's first soccer game. He was in defense and did a great job defending the goal. He even kicked it over the heads of the players a couple of times. When the game wad done he told us that he thought he'd like soccer, but he says he REALLY likes soccer. He was up and dressed in his uniform at 6:30 in the morning. After the game we went to Chili's for lunch, then home for maps, relaxation, cupcakes and presents. It was a wonderful day. I feel very blessed!

Happy Valentine's Day

We all ate this by candlelight tonight. Not candlestick, but lots of little tealight candles. It was pretty dark, but fun.

Spotlight on Emily

Emily has had a busy week this week. She ran the curtains for the school talent show and did a great job. Kaleb's class performed "Grandma's Feather Bed" in the show. It was very entertaining. They had dance moves, and during one part of the song they were supposed to make a funny face. He ended up being the only one making a funny face. He tilted his head to the side and went cross-eyed.
It was great. There were two nights of performances, plus rehearsals and another performance on Friday morning. Emily enjoyed it, but is glad that it's over. All the money raised in ticket sales and the bake sale benefit 5th grade camp.

Also this week Emily has been doing site sales for girl scout cookies. Somehow she ended up with two 3 hour shifts two nights in a row. The first night was in downtown oceanside, across from the movie theater and next to a bar. It was a bit frightening, and I was glad that the other girl's dad was there to protect us. The worst event of the night was Emily almost getting smashed into by a skateboarder, but she got out of his way.

It's been a fun, busy week and we're all glad it's done. One more week of school then Grandma Becky comes for our President's week off. We can't wait!

Becky'a award ceremony

This week Blake and I were able to go to Becky's school to see her get an award. She worked hard during the first semester to get good grades and she did it. She also got an award from her science teacher for having the highest grade in her class. We are so proud of her!
