Torgerbucks

We have a reward system at our house that works great when we remember to do it. When the kids are quick to obey with a good attitude they can earn Torgerbucks. They can cash these in for dates with me or Blake. It had been a while since we had focused on them, but the kids started counting their bucks last week and realized they all had enough for dates. So this weekend I was able to go to The Wave waterpark with Becky, and to dinner and a movie with Emily. Blake and Kaleb also did dinner and a movie. It was so nice to have that one on one time. Hopefully we can use these dates to help the kids stay excited to earn more Torgerbucks. Now I just need to figure out when I can go out with Blake.

First day of school

I wish every morning were as easy to get the kids to school as the first day of school. They were all ready 20 minutes early. Can't wait to see how their first day goes. My first day is going great so far.

A new addition

After cleaning out the kids rooms last week, we had a yard sale. We didn't sell a lot, but Emily sold enough to get this new addition to her collection. Not too happy about it, but it is comfy to sit on while I read to her.

Great Weekend

We had a very fun weekend. Friday night we went camping with some friends to Guajome Park, which is only about 10 minutes away. We introduced them to geocaching, and had a fun time going on "treasure hunts."

When we got back we actually spent some much needed time working in the yard. Our lattice blew down months ago & we finally started getting it back in place. Kaleb was Blake's helper.

Yesterday, Blake got some new counselors which we are all excited about. We got together at a friends for some games and dessert. Life is good!

Sewing projects

Becky and Emily have done some sewing projects lately.

With lots of help from a sister in our ward, Becky was able to make a scripture bag for her new scriptures.

The same sister gave us a pattern for a pioneer bonnet. Emily and I got that done today.

I'm glad we were able to get some sewing done this summer.

We're having a great summer. One of our favorite things so far is reading as you can see from the picture (if it works). Anyway, here's hoping!

The School Year Comes to an End

I really can't believe that the school year is already over. I now have a 7th grader, a 5th grader and a 2nd grader. The time has gone so fast! I am proud of the hard work the kids put in this year. Becky ended up getting honor roll, and Emily got every award possible except perfect attendance, which she wants to try for next year. Kaleb's teacher loved having him in class and was impressed with his reading and math skills. We are all looking forward to this summer break, and our trip to Utah. I can't wait to see everyone!

This morning I sat down with the kids and we each made a list of the things we want to do this summer. Hopefully we can find the time to do half the things we want to but here's a revised list:

beach

biking to the beach

camping

all the kids want to take turns cooking dinner (yay!)

quilting

crafting

scrapbooking

babysitting

de-cluttering and having a yardsale (hoping that motivates all of us to get rid of stuff)

swimming

reading

wii games

playing games

and Emily wants to work and earn money for 5th grade camp next year

Add to this list Monday-Friday chores and it's going to be a fun, busy summer.
